Tom Adams who portrays Victor in 3 OF A KIND needed to prepare for his role as the abuser husband to Anna (Jodi Russell). We read many books and researched domestic violence extensively before passing the information to Tom. One book really caught Tom's attention as he prepared for his role. The book WHY DOES HE DO THAT explores specifically why men abuse their partner. Tom remarks, "The book really helped me get inside the mind of a man who abuses."

Dr. Phil recently received a letter that was printed in the July issue of Oprah Magazine. And I quote:

Q: "My girlfriend and I have been together 18 months. We argue a lot; I've thrown things, yelled and slammed doors - but I do it because she gets under my skin. She always threatens to call the police, so once or twice I unhooked our phone and took her cell phone. She and her 11-year-old daughter (from a previous relationship) just moved out. She also filed a restraining order against me, claiming she feels "threatened." Here's the issue; She has restraining orders against three other men. I admit I've gotten in her face and cursed at her, but she was provoking me. The fact that she has restraining orders against so many other men proves my point-she's overly sensitive. Why is it always the man's fault?"

Here's Dr. Phil's response:

Dr. Phil: "Are you kidding me? I have never heard anything so outrageous. Whether your girlfriend has restraining orders against four men or 40, it doesn't change the fact that your behavior is abusive and likely criminal. There is nothing your girlfriend could do to warrant such treatment, and no circumstances in which your actions would be defensible."

Dr. Phil also recommended to him that he needs to get help from a psychologist immediately.

Many men rationalize their behavior while women suffer the consequences. Women who have attended 3 OF A KIND

screenings have been empowered and are responding loud and clear; "I lived this," one woman said. "Finally - a film that

shows what really happens," another said. "There's no excuse for the husband's behavior in the film - ever." Another said,

"As realistic as it is, it's a narrative film – a psychological thriller. But I like that because it gave me permission to enjoy the ending!"
